Improving Conferences That Work I designed and facilitated my first peer conference in 1992. I ran them in my spare time for thirteen years before writing my first book. When it was published in 2009, my peer conference work exploded. The result was that I wrote two supplements to the book that I published in 2013 and 2015.
As you may know, I have been selling my ebooks at a fixed price of $11.00 since 2009. Organizations hear about these conferences and ask me to design and facilitate them. I decide to write a book about it, and in… 2009: I self-publish Conferences That Work: Creating Events That People Love. I quickly discover the size and interest of the meetings industry. Yet another career that had not existed before.
The first time I met him—at the premier EventCamp in 2010 —he immediately purchased my just-published book, sight unseen. Whenever I’ve had the pleasure of meeting David (not often enough!) In 2009, Jill and Kevin created the JKWeddingDance for their Big Day, and the traditional Western wedding was enriched forever.
And it’s mostly about meetingdesign and facilitation, but I write about all kinds of things. And that’s when I decided I would write my first book, Conferences That Work, Creating Events that People Love , to talk about the format, and make it available to anyone who wanted to use it.
