Travel has hosted the International Pow Wow (IPW) to put America’s tourist destinations up for offer to travelagents from around the world. In addition to presenting American tourism to international planners, a series of panels, summits and workshops offer attendees many opportunities for personal and professional growth.
Held from 19-21 October at Suntec Singapore, ITB Asia 2011 will feature two new events; the inaugural TTG TravelAgent Conference and the Asia for Asia Conference. Covering a range of topics, the conference includes case studies of super agents and tips for success in customised travel and online businesses.
Keynote speeches from representatives from Skift, Phocuswright and Web in Travel and panel sessions focused on the event’s ‘SHIFTING FUTURES’ theme, exploring how the travel sector should react to changes and shifts in the industry in terms of key topics such as technology, the complexity of distribution, shifting consumer trends, payments and data.
A ‘Green Tourism Forum for Buyers’ session will be held on 8 June 2011 with a keynote speech by Mr Suraphon on the topic of “Thailand Goes Green” That will be followed by a panel discussion on “The Real Implementation of Green Tourism in Thailand.”
Don’t underestimate the power of tourism For her part, World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) managing director for the Asia-Pacific Liz Ortiguera feels that many governments within the region appear to have underestimated the economic and industrial reach of the travel and tourism sectors.
Overall, BRICS economies exceeded exhibitor booking growth rates with South Africa, Russia and Brazil leading the trend. Running parallel with the exhibition, the conference programme will look to “The Future of Travel”.
